چکیده
Coffee is a crop of economic importance in Ecuador, grown area 199 215 ha, 38,6% it Canton Jipijapa, located the south province Manabí. here by small farmers, who spend little annually for maintenance plantations. One main constraints getting optimal yields presence weeds, which affect water stress during dry spells, and bring about deficient plant uptake essential nutrients. Weeds are not usually properly controlled all areas this crop. Some farmers eliminate weeds twice or three times year, others do that only once. The most common control method hand hoeing, but some growers use foliar-applied herbicides, any these practices commonly carried out without knowledge prevailing weed species. Suitable management strategy should include data their biology rainy seasons Jipijapa. To end, 15 ha coffee plantations 2014 period another 2015 one, cover species present were visually evaluated using scale 0-5, where 1- up to 5% 4-more than 50%. These values processed determine Absolute Relative Frequencies, average finally Severity Infestation (SI). A total 39 belonging 19 families found both seasons, mostly broadleaves plants, while grasses less shady spots appears be Senna occidentalis followed Commelina erecta, Laportea aestuans, Alternathera flavescens Xanthosoma spp., season, fern Pteridium aquilinum was leading perennials C4 grass Megathyrsus maximus. responded humidity conditions each season effect certain measure. Most show poor management, scarce density, even planted favor slope. Improved plantation key measure reduce weeds. In with more abundance, two early weeding operations, an additional one later advisable, case adequate shade, may satisfactorily presence. Transmission of Leishmania in coffee plantations of Minas Gerais, Brazil.
Transmission of Leishmania was studied in 27 coffee plantations in the Brazilian State of Minas Gerais. Eighteen females and six males (11.6% of the people tested), aged between 7-65 gave a positive response to the Montenegro skin test. Awareness of sand flies based on the ability of respondents to identify the insects using up to seven predetermined characteristics was significantly greater am...
متن کاملCascading effects of insectivorous birds and bats in tropical coffee plantations.
The loss of apex predators is known to have reverberating consequences for ecosystems, but how changes in broader predator assemblages affect vital ecosystem functions and services is largely unknown. Predators and their prey form complex interaction networks, in which predators consume not only herbivores but also other predators. Resolving these interactions will be essential for predicting c...
متن کاملLimitation of nesting resources for ants in Colombian forests and coffee plantations
1. This study examines limitation of nesting resources for leaf-litter and twig-nesting ants as a mechanism of diversity loss across an intensification gradient of coffee production in Colombia. Twelve farms were selected and classified into four management types: forest, polygeneric shade coffee, monogeneric shade coffee, and sun coffee (unshaded coffee monocultures). 2. At each of the farms, ...
متن کاملDiversity of Bacillus thuringiensis strains isolated from coffee plantations infested with the coffee berry borer Hypothenemus hampei.
The coffee berry borer Hypothenemus hampei Ferrari (Coleoptera: Scolytidae) was first reported infecting Costa Rican coffee plantations in the year 2000. Due to the impact that this plague has in the economy of the country, we were interested in seeking new alternatives for the biological control of H. hampei, based on the entomopathogenic bacteria Bacillus thuringiensis. A total of 202 B. thur...
